When is the best time to hire a campervan in Iceland

The best time to hire a campervan in Iceland is during the summer months, from mid-May to mid-September. During this time, the weather is usually mild and sunny, making it the perfect time to explore the Icelandic countryside. Additionally, during this time, the roads are generally in good condition, making it easy to drive a campervan around the country.

  • Easy Viking 4×4 is a Volkswagen Crafter, powered converted van that has 5 seats and 5 beds.
  • Easy Clever 4×4 – larger tires, raised chassis, and a 4×4, this 4×4 campervan has 3 seats and can sleep 3.
  • Easy Ranger 4×4 – Based on 2022 Volkswagen or Caddy Maxi 4×4, Raised chassis, larger wheels and tires, roof rack, roof-mounted spare Sleeps and seats 2 adults

RV’s that are 2 – 5 years old 

  • Easy Auto X is a converted Mercedes van with all the extras. It has an automatic transmission and is powered by a diesel engine. There is seating and bedding for 3 people.
  • Easy Big X is a converted Renault van with a manual transmission powered by a diesel engine. It can accommodate up to 5 people for both sitting and sleeping. This too comes with extra amenities to make the journey more comfortable.
  • Easy Clever X is another converted Mercedes van with all the bells and whistles. It has an automatic transmission powered by a diesel engine and is 4-wheel drive. It is made to explore the highlands of Iceland, so the auroras can be viewed in their full splendour. This van can sit and sleep 3 people.

Extras offered by Camp Easy Iceland

All of the vans are heavily insulated and come with a heater that warms the interior up in less than 3 minutes. With unlimited mileage, you can explore every part of Iceland as long as you afford the fuel fees.  If the van you have reserved has not returned from being rented, you will be given the next size up at no extra charge. For running the accessories, there is a second battery that is charged by the motor and a provided solar panel.

How do find Camp Easy at Keflavik Airport?

Please call for shuttle service  +354 571 1310 once you are ready to leave the Airport. The Shuttle stops at the P2 parking, which is on the Arrivals side of the Airport.

What Do I Need To Bring When I Collect The Campervan?

Prepare the following document for motorhome rental pickup in Italy

  • Original driving licence for the lead and named drivers (named drivers should be present at pickup or if return to depot can be added later)
  • Credit card in name of the lead driver (no exceptions).The card is not charged as they only log the information
  • Passport or official form of ID for all drivers

What is included in the rental price?

The rental includes free transfer to our office and back to KEF airport, unlimited Miles/Kilometers, all taxes, CDW insurance, bedding (sheet, pillows, thick blankets, and thick duvets), and all the items required to cook, dine and sleep. We also offer free additions, such as an extra stove, pots or pans for larger meals and extra pillows, duvets and sheets. This can be selected in step two of the booking process. We also include mountings with many of our models, free of charge.

Can You Sleep Anywhere In A Campervan In Iceland?

The answer is No. Free or wild camping is illegal in Iceland.  The good news is that But are still plenty of options for camping legally and safely. 

We recommend booking designated campsites in advance if travelling during peak season, specially in touristy areas that attract large numbers of tourists.

When Should I Book My Icelandic RV Rental Road Trip Rental?

Iceland is full of both car and motorhome rental companies in Iceland, but they still do sell-out, as such you should aim to book as early as possible, 3-4 months in advance or longer if possible, especially during peak season or bank holiday weekends.

  • Driving is on the right-hand side. Roads are in excellent condition, with 24-hour roadside assistance available. Be cautious when driving at night if snowing.
  • Keep headlights switched on during daylight.
