Campervan Hire Sydney Motorhome Trip ideas

Blue Mountains:

Drive along the Bell’s Line to the Blue Mountains and the Western Plains. To get into the Blue Mountains, one must drive an hour to the entrance at Glenbrook/Lapstone along the M4 Motorway. People will also take the Bell’s Line of Road from Richmond for a more scenic route in and through the Blue Mountains. A series of day walks can be enjoyed around Katoomba, with the Jenolan Caves providing an additional option if you have time to spare. Katoomba is home to a campervan park, while Blackheath plays host to two camper sites. The Blue Mountains are home to places like The Three Sisters sandstone rocks, which are notably the most famous in the Blue Mountains. Aside from the mountain chain itself, a vast history is also present with the aboriginal people who came from the area years ago, known as the Gundungurra people. Don’t forget to stop and see the Kings Tableland Aboriginal Site, which dates back 22,000 years ago.

Bathurst:

Escape the CBD and Sydney’s suburbs in order to visit the likes of Orange and Mount Panorama, where wine valleys are common and some orchards allow you to pick your own apples, pears and chestnuts. Motorhome accommodation is available in Kelso and Bathurst. The oldest inland settlement in Australia is 200 kilometres (120 mi) west of Sydney and is around a 2 and a half hour drive. Stop and see the Tablelands areas and Bathurst Basin. However, the most important place to see when visiting Bathurst or being near it is the Great Dividing Range, which is located 30 km east. The Great Dividing Range is the third-longest land based range in the entire world, and is also Australia’s most infamous! It actually runs along the entire eastern coastline.

Grand Pacific Drive:

Some of the most amazing scenery in New South Wales can be enjoyed by heading 140kms out of Sydney. The Grand Pacific Drive’s location is 45 minutes south of Sydney’s airport and goes through cities like Shellharbour before ending in the Shoalhaven region. Campervan sites can be found in the likes of Bateman’s Bay, Wollongong and Shaolhaven. Starting in Royal National Park, it journeys through places like Wollongong and offers spectacular and completely unique views like the Sea Cliff Bridge that offers views of the ocean like you have never seen before. Many of those making this journey will stop in places like the Minnamurra Rainforest, Royal National Park, and walk among the flowers on the Illawarra coastline. Don’t forget to stop and see Jervis Bay and do some Dolphin and Whale watching! This is a journey many people will also do by bicycle due to wanting to take in the atmosphere and the views, so it should be noted to take this drive nice and slow!
